Below are the updates I was able to post throughout the day. The day actually went very fast!
12:30 P.M.
Dad just went in for surgery about 45 min ago. Will be out about 3:45 pm!
3:30 P.M.
Update: Nurse just came out a couple minutes ago. Said all is going very well so far. Started bypass surgery about an hour ago. Don't know the number of bypasses or end time yet- doctor usually keeps to himself as he is working. About 7 nurses/technicians in operation... Thankful for those wonderful people!!
4:30 P.M.
Surgery is DONE!! Finished about 3:45. About 4 hrs like we thought. Dad had a Quadruple bypass. He is now in ICU until at least tomorrow, then will move to the Heart Center for the week. Just went in to see him- looks good, not awake yet but resting peacefully here with us :) God is good and we will continue to praise Him for the abundance of love and blessings. To God be the glory!!

Just now Alex, Tony and Mark came out from seeing my dad. It was Tony and Mark's first times going in. When they came out they said he is awake now! He was in and out a lot saying short bursts then closing his eyes between every comment. Once he would start snoring he'd open his eyes again.
Here I am recording them as they are telling us as all he said. They said he threw his hand up in the air saying, "Who's this guy, and this guy, and this guy?" Closes eyes "I'm ready to get out of here." Closes eyes "I'm here-(both arms in the air) God Bless PRAISE the Lord."(Puts arms down slowly as eyes are closing) "I'm hungry."
Enjoying some chuckles in the waiting room as we think about our Dad. Thankful for Him and where he's at right now!! Thankful for my family. We've spent a lot of hours at the hospital but I've loved spending the time with my family. It has been such a blessing to see how all of our strengths have come together to pull through as a family. Ben brings new energy and inspiration each time he comes to the hospital. I have seen Alex as the protector and caretaker of the family. Tony brings strength and courage in a calm, quiet, yet reassuring way. I have seen each of these attributes and many more in each of my brothers at different points over the last 4 days. My mom is obviously all these things and more. She is strong, she is patient, she is caring, compassionate, selfless- the list could go on. She knows her limits and when she needs rest. Keep praying for her as she perseveres through these next few weeks.
9:00 P.M. Monday Night
Dad is in pain but he is really doing great. We've gone into see him every 40 minutes or so. He needs a lot of rest and it is SO crucial that we don't overstimulate him. Naturally he will want to entertain us, so we have to watch how much time we spend around him so he can rest. It makes it hard because he definitely wants us to stay, and we do to, but what is important is his rest. However, it is so sweet to hold his hand and look into his eyes.
We will take the road to recovery day by day. We are READY!!
